Now we need MALA. Make Appliances Last Again.
Really tired of reading about the latest washers and dryers and fridges lasting only 3 or 4 years. If that. Planned obsolescence should be illegal.

I remember car batteries lasting 8 or 10 years. Now it seems I am constantly replacing 2 year old batteries.

The first washer we got when we were married lasted 30+ years. Granted, at the last it had issues and we were filling it with a hose and turning the knob with a vice grip but the motor and tub were still good. You could almost hear it salute its replacement and say “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race.”

In that same time frame we went thru 4 dishwashers, 3 refrigerators and 3 stoves.

I had a Maytag washer for about 30 years. Hardly ever had to fix anything. It finally crashed so I got a new Maytag. I know everything about it because I have replaced so many parts on it. Plastic gears, junk electronics, etc. I’m watching garage sales and estate auctions looking for an old one again.
