In 1958 I lived in West Whittier, across from a large vacant lot that became Sorensen Park the next year. Later, I moved to College Heights, above Whittier College, and now I live in North Orange County, about two miles from East Whittier, so I didn’t move very far away.

She and her daughter Anne played the same character in the Magnum PI episode “Lest We Forget.” Jose and Mel
Ferrer also played the same character.

June Lockhart really made her name in television. While she made movies, her talents were underutilized in the film industry.

When invited to a retrospective screening of the film noir “Bury Me Dead,” Lockhart noted that the poster for the film did not feature her as the leading lady, but included Sonia Darrin, a supporting player.

She traded some snide remarks with Jonathan Harris at fan conventions for “Lost in Space.”

Hinshaw’s opened in 1953 and I shopped there regularly—even had a Hinshaw’s charge card. It lasted well into the 1980s.

Same here. A true beauty! We here in Oz always thought of her as America’s mom. Mrs Apple pie.

Who doesn’t remember the portrait of Ezra Hinshaw on the wall near the escalator. There he was, Ezra Hinshaw, strategically placed for the recognition. IIRC also by the travel agents, and further past them was the hair salon. The lowest level with the china and silverware, when America was like that.

Maybe those doors in the photo go into that area, but it’s kind of been a while so who knows what got scrambled up in these ancient memories.

All I know is that Hinshaw’s deserves a place in the World to Come.

every Christmas season I watch A Christmas Carol with her and her parents in it. I watch 2 or 3 different versions, and that’s one of my favorites. A classy lady.

I was thinking the same thing.

June Lockhart’s Dad Gene Lockhart played the judge in “Miracle On 34th Street”

I never knew that but you're right. I remember his face.

My Mom had a Hinshaws credit card circa 1959, it was made of thin card board and her name was typed on it with a typewriter. First credit card I ever saw.
