Well, if you want a narrow font for text, either Arial Narrow or Narrow Helvetica are common “go to” choices. They used to be included in Windows, but sometimes is not installed by default. It starts being hard to read below 9 pt size, though. I find Letter Goth 12 (which has to be hunted down and downloaded) is not “beautiful, but is quite readable.

Yes, I ended up with Arial Narrow for the fields (cells) where I needed the most “condensation”). The smallest font size is 10.5, so, readability is still pretty good. I’ll try to run down Letter Goth 12 too, as that sound most interesting. :-)

Maximum information with good legibility in the smallest area is often my goal...

Thanks to all who have contributed here. Several posters made good points, including about the weaknesses of Libre Office: I’ve even discovered a quirk with Arial Narrow in Libre Office Calc — one of the font size changes (I don’t recall which) had no effect!

This is one of the rare FR pages that I’ve bookmarked and also saved to pdf if ever I need offline reference. :-)
