New research reveals that the plesiosaurs was a long-necked marine reptile covered with both smooth and scaly skin.

Thus proving the plesiosaur was not a Democrat. Democrats are reptiles covered in 100% scaly skin.

Plesios/a/on (with an eta) is Greek for "near" or "neighboring." So a plesiosaur was either a "near lizard" or had lizards for neighbors. Since it seems to have predated lizards I will go with the first option.
