Sigh. There is a lot I like about Candace Owens, but yes, after leveling a place, you are in a position of strength and can offer an opportunity for peace negotiations. Beats the heack out of a Sherman March to the Sea for the Iranians.
Reverse engineering this, it all makes sense.
Trumps goals:
1. No new wars, especially in the Middle East.
2. Iran must not have nuclear bomb.
3. Israel will not sit idly by, especially after October 7, 2023, and blames Iran for supplying bad actors in the region.
4. Intelligence indicates that Iran has multiple nuke sites gearing up, including one that only the U.S can take out.
Trump’s analysis:
1. Iran is not, and will not, bargain in good faith, and is certainly not willing to destroy her own work.
2. The U.S. can give them one last chance, and when it is rejected, act in a way that may be considered an act of war, yet doesn’t result in boots on the ground, much less nation-building.
3. The sooner the U.S. acts, the sooner Iran’s war-making capability is leveled. They can then come to the table, or not. Either way, they have a lot fewer cards than they did.
4. The best way to fulfill the most promises and have the fewest people, especially Americans, die, is to take out the facility. It is hardly a civilian target.
5. This falls well within the window of the War Powers Act.

I’m not going to second guess President Trump on whether or not he decides to drop some MOPs on the ayatollah’s head. I won’t lose any sleep over it. I was in Balad, Iraq in 2006. One of the many things my unit did was support the mortuary affairs Soldiers at the MA Collection Point. One evening, I was at the MACP with my 1SG to see what else we could do to help those troops improve their area. It just so happened to be the evening that they were ‘processing’ the remains of three American Soldiers that were killed by an IRGC ‘explosively formed penetrator’ IED.
Those three Soldiers were packaged in 375 individual ziplock bags inside a steel box. The only piece that could be identified as human was the right trigger finger of the female lieutenant that was in the vehicle when it was hit. She had a nonregulation shade of nail polish. It was lavender. Of all the crap I went through in Iraq, and later in Afghanistan as a counterinsurgent, that is one of the top 3 things that still haunt me.
Iran brought in, and likely set up and fired, those EFP IEDs across Iraq and Afghanistan. The last count I had before I retired in 2012 was around 600 American KIA due to the IRGC. So, if President Trump decides to hasten the end of them with a few MOPs or whatever, I won’t lose any sleep over it. We are far from even as far as I’m concerned.
