Logic...I suspect that he was a Communist first, then a crackhead. Crackheads don’t care about politics, they only care about getting high. Communists don’t care about quality of life, hence the fundamental transformation into a crackhead or various other conditions of squalor.

He had life-long addiction issues and was kicked out of the Army due to drugs and alcohol. We grew up in a hard-core liberal area controlled by the UAW and Teamsters.
