As one who served in the military during Vietnam, I know the frustration that we had was that it seemed that our brass didn’t want to win the war. And to this day, I believe we could have won it without the politician’s interference. My brother was a tank commander who sat in his tank, with the VC in sight, and was ordered not to fire because it would damage a French Rubber Tree, and the US would have to compensate France for it. So, this situation reminds me of that, where we have the weapons that can end it quickly, but our politicians are getting cold feet. Indecision and the lack of the will to win costs thousands of my brothers needlessly. That is what is meant about ‘endless wars’. Trump wants to finish it quickly. I agree.

you should know then that ending it quickly is not going to happen as a Vietnam vet (it’s before my time) but that conflict lasted many years and drained much resources
