I’ve been to the Texas Capitol while the legislature was in session. It was quite interesting to sit in the gallery to see and hear the members speaking after previously only seeing them on TV. The security seemed to be quite good, with metal detectors and screening required to get inside the buildings. The guards were friendly and gave helpful directions on good places to go. Once inside, visitors could freely walk around most anywhere including eating lunch in the same cafeteria where members were eating. There was no obvious way to get from the gallery to the house floor, many feet below the gallery floor. I’m sure the actual passage had additional security and screening.
