There was an inland sea over Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado in the Eocene. Like Salt Lake but fresh. The rock deposited during this time is called the Green River Shale. It is world famous for fish fossils. I have a few of my own. Here are some examples.

Nice! What sort of batter do you use? Or do you cook them in the oven, wrapped in tinfoil, with a touch of tarragon and lemon juice?
