Never stick a cigar up your nose while cigar shopping.

Instead, if you are tempted to smell the aroma, the foot of the cigar is the best place. The outer leaf or the cap won’t deliver any scent.

When I was working at the sporting clays range, we had groups of affluent shooters who indulged in cigars on the course. Occasionally, one would have their stogie go out and their fancy butane lighter was unhappy at our altitude. I carried a Zippo and would give them a light knowing it would taste like jet fuel.
