Ha, I always start when hunting with the hounds with the rules of beagling. Which is the proper English name of the sport.
First rule of beagling is don’t shoot the Beagles.
Second rule of beagling is don’t shoot the Beagles.
There are no other rules
They will chase prey be it foxes, rabbits, hogs in front of you and across you it’s what they are trained to do you shoot in front of the prey leading it and not behind where the Beagles are.
They also flush birds with the best of them, again shoot over the dogs. Not all will retrieve but I have two that do and they get the ride on the duck boat or over the field for honkers those two know the sound of honkers and get all worked up when they fly by knowing we going blasting. Their rewards are meat form hunt they earned it and they eat well. We do it Now..
