The local library has a 60 watt CO2 laser for cutting wood, et. al.

A friend who has a sign shop as the 100 watt CO2 laser.

This article is useless.

Why are they comparing a laser to a laser pointer?

Laser pointers by their very nature don’t need a lot of power.

This guy is in the ‘laser cutting’ range. Although ‘hand held’ is not a great option for precision cutting.

Some cutting options are:
xToolP2 $800 (55 W CO2)
Glowforge Aura $1200 (6 W Blue Diode)
xTool F1 $1400 (10 W blue diode and infrared)
Two Trees TTS-55 $219 (
xTool S1 $1850
WeCreat Vision Pro $2,400 (45 watts)

“Although ‘hand held’ is not a great option for precision cutting.”

It all depends on what needs to be lopped off.
