This tweet from Mike Benz helps to explain a curious phenomenon I’ve observed over the past week. I’ve read numerous comments online from Europeans about how afraid they are to visit the U.S. Apparently, they’re all convinced they’ll have their social media scrutinized and “God knows what will happen then!”
The comments repeated the claim that any negative comments about President Trump would result in being denied entry into the U.S. People were advised to get a “burner phone” and keep their comments to themselves if traveling to the U.S.
I dismissed all of it as Leftist projection, but last night I heard the same from people I know personally in the U.K. and Ireland. I responded that terroristic threats are always a no-no. They insisted that it’s any criticism of Trump because he’s so “thin-skinned.” I denied that it was even possible. They said I was mistaken.
NOW, this tweet from Eva Vlaardingerbroek regarding Germany’s crackdown on free speech. I’m convinced what I witnessed was a deliberate misinformation campaign to lessen the sting of their upcoming raids. Accuse your enemy of what you’re doing, right?
You would think that someone visiting a foreign country on vacation would be too busy relaxing, enjoying themselves and the culture, and being too busy to sit and spew toxic rhetoric on their phone. But that’s just me.
