I've been looking at videos put out by Wesley Huff from Apologetics Canada recently. His material on why we can trust the Bible and how it was all put together is pretty good. Here is a link to the first one to check out if you're interested. He discusses why some books weren't put into the Protestant Bible and some were put into the Catholic Bible. HTH.

😀 I listened to part of the video... I am confident that we have the exact Bible today the the Lord wants us to have. I have most of the apocrypha and pseudepigrapha works as well as the gnostic works such as the Nag Hammadi library; they are easily available to those who wish to read them some with multiple translations available.

For example, I especially like the Epistle of Barnabas; it is fascinating and quite educational. Still, I can see why it was not included in the regular cannon. The Catholic Bible includes the Books of Maccabees; I see nothing there needed in our faith although it is good historical reading.
