Re: "I've always wondered how New Mexico could turn into such a horribly run liberal state in the Southwest."

Non-Hispanic White - 36.8%

Hispanic - 48.6%

Native Americans - 11.4%

The only USA Hispanic group that votes Republican is 1960 Cuban Refugees, and their children and grand children.

I avoid Santa Fe like the plague. It was a really nice town until the crazies took over.

There used to be a late night radio show that played on Sunday night, called “Musical Star Streams”, hosted by “Forrest”. Based in Santa Fe. He played “Space Music”.

“Nick Johnson has done terrific work on his YouTube channel. You can learn a lot about what’s going on in America from his videos.”

Nick Johnson started out as a liberal. You can hear it in his older work. I guess seeing all these cities destroyed, large and small by the Democrats has gotten through to him as he is pretty conservtive now.

But most of the counties along the border in Texas have shifted republican. They are 90%mex. So it’s likely the glacial moves right in nm over the last several elections are mex voting R for the first time.

Santa Fe made house deals for the liberals because it was a plan to isolate them normal people.

You can tell it has the makings of a cool place from some of the stuff in the OP’s video. Looks funky, cool, and historic.

I don’t want your bread
I don’t need your helping hand
I can’t be no savage
I can’t be no highwayman
Show me where you are
You and I will spend this day
Driving in my car
Through the ruins of Santa Fe

For the record I love Santa Fe

It’s like ancestral second home for me

I just ignore the tardism like I do in music city where I live

The mexercan are pretty friendly and yo hablo portañol which helps just to be friendly at times

But it’s a different place no doubt

And yes it snows lol

A fair amount even though dry

I got g grandpa and grandma buried in artesia

Jolly Roger squadron leader uncle and aunt Santa Fe in the va plots

He was New Mexico leader road builder once and my dad and grandpa were close to the lady from Nola who founded the pink adobe restaurant

We almost bought a place at rancho encantado in 1982 for 170k

It’s four seasons joint now

Bet those are worth 2m

Crazy

Hell it’s time to visit

About 15 hours drive
