Apparently the Bee doesn’t know Phil got his start in Dayton OH with his popular radio show on WHIO. And he lived next door to beloved humorist Erma Bombeck.
It was his wife Marlo Thomas that turned him into a leftist. When he got his start he was the suburbanite next door.
