SNIP

“Our baby was alive when we all went to sleep. That is the last thing we know,” he said.

“Our baby died of SIDS, from sudden infant death syndrome,” he said. “She also had medical issues. She had a heart murmur. The dog did eat the baby’s face. It was put down.”

Authorities initially believed little Kiyanna Winfield was killed by Bella – until the city medical examiner revealed Wednesday that the baby was already dead when the pup began biting her face.

The Medical Examiner has not yet publicly released a cause of death.

The parents said they woke to the gruesome scene shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday, with sources saying a “substantial portion” of Kiyanna’s face had been mauled.

pitbull owners are mentally disturbed. They all belong in mental institutions

What's in a name? Kiyanna. That's the whole story start to finish.

“The dog did eat the baby's face. It was put down.”

What's the problem? Kill any dog that gets a taste for human flesh.

Like everybody knows what ME stands for. I freaking hate when people abbreviate non-common acronyms.

SIDS can happen to any Baby, from my understanding, even babies with attentive parents.
What still looks bad here, is they went to sleep with a puppy roaming loose, and they were both so deeply asleep, neither heard anything when the dog began tearing and nipping at the infant’s face. Easy precautions were not taken.

I guess it is common for puppies to eat baby’s faces in NYC.

Initial reports were that the baby was in the family bed, between the parents.

Now I slept with my babies. I woke up before I shifted an arm.

But these parents didn’t wake when the puppy jumped on the bed between them and started chewing on the baby? It did a lot of damage for a tiny dog.

So “sudden infant death syndrome” becomes, there’s a good chance they smothered that child by overlaying her.

Which is the NYPost more upset about? The baby’s passing or the dog’s?

You blame the dog for farting, not a puppy for killing your baby.

If the dog was eating the baby’s face after she died, then the dog has to go. Are these people for real? Once it gets the taste of human flesh, just think what it would do when it got bigger...

Pitbulls..the dogs of peace (sarcasm)

What a horrifying story.

In this instance, even if the dog was at fault, had I been the medical examiner I would have said the baby was already dead of SIDS.

It’s all bad enough without adding more guilt and horror into the mix.

That said, I think some breeds should be illegal to own.

That, what you just described, sounds the most likely.
These parents were, well let’s just say, they were dumb to go to sleep, with a frisky puppy wandering loose, but I don’t get the impression that they didn’t care about this child.
No parent wants to admit smothering their baby, inadvertently or otherwise.

I was just told something the other day that should make anyone with children wonder....

I have gone to same auto mechanic for years and have got to him so well, I consider him a good friend. Today he told me something that I had not heard before. He said about 20 or so years ago, his wife took their baby daughter (not sure of the age but say a year or so old) to a doctor and had her vaccinated (not sure what for). That night, the baby died. The autopsy declared that the cause of death was SIDS and my auto mechanic friend listed out all the things that were eliminated as they came to that conclusion. As he related this to me, he said that the one question the investigation never asked and did not want to investigate even when it was mentioned was the vaccine that had just taken place earlier that day. He said that he doesn’t think that even today vaccines are part of an investigation when a baby is declared to have died of SIDS.... that obviously would need to be confirmed.

How vaccines were not investigated when the proximity in time to death is that close is absolutely astounding....

Vaccines have been on the list of possible causes (not by the medical establishment, of course). Also, some of these children are just recovering from a cold.

Nobody knows the cause or causes of SIDS yet.

Pretty easy to smother a baby that is in between sleeping two adults with today’s fluffy comforters, and bigger people, too, I would think.

I remember a sow on my grandma’s farm that rolled over on her babies in her sleep. Ugh...lost half the litter.

Well, since the dog was chewing on her face, it should have been put down anyways.
