And rather than sharing his formula for invisible clothing and the ability to shrink (or grow) with science and industry, easily earning a Nobel Prize for Physics (and upending laws of physics, like the reuction of matter, and being able to talk and breathe when you are smaller than oxygen molecules), he becomes a costumed crime-fighting superhero.
He didn't even have the angst of losing his parents like Supes, the original Captain Marvel, and Batman. Of course, his wife became nutso and dangerous (see below).
