Elon employs KISS all the time. You’ve probably heard him say “the worst thing an engineer can do is perfect a part that shouldn’t exist” and “the best part is no part”. Comparing raptor 1 to raptor 3 shows KISS is integral to their engineering philosophy.
The simplification from Raptor 1 to Raptor 2 was remarkable, and Raptor 3 is so simplified by contrast that it doesn't look like it's finished. :^)
