Trade schools have the chance of training people for actual jobs. However many of those trade schools hire unqualified teachers who do a poor job. Or the school may not invest enough in their programs to make them useful. Some of them are basically an outright fraud. But it you can find a good one the it will produce a member that is much more useful to society than if the student went to Harvard.
....The problem is we haven’t thrown enough taxpayer (and corporate, foundation, etc.) money at it yet.....
And—perhaps—that we haven’t taken a good hard look at patents such as mine and applied them effectively to specific types of solid tumors!
Do THAT!!!! We need millwrights and E/Is desperately!!! Right now we’re getting folks who know just a bit more than righty-tighty, lefty-loosey and it isn’t working. Way too much time teaching folks in the field.
We need trade schools badly. Trump wants to bring manufacturing back to the States, which I agree with, but we don’t have the people to maintain the equipment any more. Those folks were told in the 80s/90s, “the only way you can make money is to go to college and learn computers.” Well, they did and now those folks don’t have jobs because we gave them away to H1Bs. We have precious few millwrights and E/Is right now. I can’t hire enough of them at $34+ per hr base and all the OT they can handle.
Excellent idea
Sounds like a much better use of the money.
Then they need to focus on that and drop the DEI, anti-semitism crap but I'll bet only a farction of the monies they receive go to that.
Hen they start providing a quality education instead of pumping out brainwashed America hating leftists, get back to us.
Otherwise, they can survive on donations. And if they can't, they don't deserve to be in business.
This is a perfect example of why Trump's not a natural Conservative...and that's okay.
Others have already mentioned on this thread, this is a bad idea. The federal government shouldn't be involved in this at all.
A better idea might be a reimbursement program to those people who choose to go to trade school
That way, the school does not get a windfall they are tempted to mismanage and waste through fraud, and the people are the direct beneficiaries.
That way, they have to put out initially and hopefully learn some financial responsibility, and can be reimbursed on a sliding scale based on grades.
We're *stuck* right now. With Trump in office. And you're disappointed the democrats don't have any good options to offer so we won't be *stuck* any more.
So, IOW, you're a democrat.
What's your DU handle?
Those who do the research and those who do the DEI are two different populations! And when I was at Harvard, the Jews mainly ran things, except that the Lutherans rn the Divinity School. So things can change.
Wanting Harvard to “survive on donations” is cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face! If you have a loved one who gets cancer, you’ll know what that means!

Till his toilet backs up at 2 am on Easter Sunday. Then that arrogance will turn to begging.
The Democrats seldom have a good idea, even when we need someone who does!
“Taken” from Harvard??
So in the Slimes delusional world not giving someone something is the same as “taking”.
A variation of baseline budgeting.
