I loved Buckley, but he was puzzled by Milton Freidman’s campaign for freedom from unconstitutional gov’t.
Buckley was a national treasure. His philosophy of voting for the most conservative candidate who has a chance of winning still makes sense. He could be very humorous man as well. I remember him being asked when he ran for mayor of New York City (which he had no chance of winning) what would be his first move if elected. He replied “Demand a recount.”
BTTT
Once again, this article reminds me of El Rush-Bo, and his first invitation to Buckley’s New York home.
Rush stated that after he drove to Buckley’s home, he drove around the block 4-5 times “trying to get the courage to go inside.”
To all of us back then, while Rush had his meteoric rise, William Buckley was the giant of conservatism.
Socialism “the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.”
Indeed it’s a powerful tool the left has mastered look at us now must be noted.
Power control and everything in between is the goal.
Confucius: “If names be not correct, language is not in accordance with the truth of things. If language be not in accordance with the truth of things, affairs cannot be conducted successfully. When affairs cannot be conducted successfully, propriety will not flourish. When propriety does not flourish, punishments will not be properly meted out. When punishments are not properly meted out, the people will not know how to conduct themselves.”
