“Follow the case and get back with me when the investigations are finalized and charges leveled.”
Perhaps if you can read the actual article you can understand better what has transpired and what is the way the law handles it.
The four teenagers were aged 13, 14, 16 and 18. The only one that could be prosecuted as an adult and received a sentence that was not covered by age limitations is the 18 year old. And all she did was try to play the “my bad” card in the article.
“I didn’t want to fight her. but I did anyway. So I talked to her, but again I’m sorry for what I did, I didn’t mean to do it.”
I have seen many copy cat crimes and if you ask a police detective about them, he/she will tell you that every time a crime happens they get numerous people copying the crime or trying to cop out for it. According to Psychology Today, there are over a million violent crimes in the US every year. In 2025, there have been at least 54 incidents of gunfire on school grounds, resulting in 16 deaths and 44 injuries nationally. These incidents are a stark reminder of the risks children face and the importance of addressing gun violence in schools.
An example is Columbine. At least 74 plots or attacks across 30 states have been inspired by two teenage boys who fatally shot 13 people and injured 24 others at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado on April 20, 1999.
Professor Ray Surette, a professor of criminal justice at UCF’s College of Community Innovation and Education in Orlando, Florida, did a survey of 574 male and female inmates about their criminal behavior. These prisoners were pretty evenly split between white and black (close to 40%) and 15% were Latino. The majority (75%) were male and a third were under age 27. Most had lengthy rap sheets (5+ arrests), with only 8% in jail on their first charge.
Any of it sound familiar? It’s the practice, not the results which will be overlooked as kids will be kids. And there will be more kids. And disabled people will be targeted by them because it was shown to be so easy. And no big deal to them. Thugs look for advantages and the disabled are a prime target. And who defends the disabled? The law let the thugs out on the street and they are free to do it again. You can look up how many repeat crimes.
