I must have missed when they rerouted the Colorado to flow into the Gulf of America. You’re right about the tamarisk, though, or salt cedar as it’s known here.

There are two Colorado Rivers, one flowing into the Gulf of California and the other into the Gulf of America. The first river starts at the Never Summer Mountains in Colorado and created huge canyons like the Grand Canyon. The Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are on that river, which also forms the California-Arizona border before flowing into Mexico. The other Colorado River is entirely inside Texas, with the headwaters south of Lubbock, on the Llano Estacado near Lamesa. The second river flows through the Hill Country and Austin, entering the Gulf of America near Matagorda.
