I agree. I think it was John Adams - and there were others - who said something along the lines that our system of government would only function properly for a virtuous, God-fearing people.

I believe that Americans are no longer a virtuous people. Sure, there are plenty of God-fearing, virtuous Americans, but by and large, American culture is now base and degenerate.

I moved to Italy years ago - long story - and when I returned to visit America five years ago I was shocked and disgusted by what I saw. Lots of grossly overweight, tatt-covered, foul mouthed, idiotically-dressed people. Dignity appeared to be in very short supply there.

It all makes me want to cry.
