We lost our 12 year old Lab mix, Tiberus, about 3 years ago. Very sad and a lot of missing him. We debated getting another dog, but decided on adopting another Lab mix a female we call Maizy. She has a very different temperament from our other dog and is very high energy, but she was what we needed.

I’ve lived long enough to have lost many family members, both human, canine and feline. I have been working on concentrating on celebrating their lives, and their contributions. It is never easy, but it does help.

Sorry for your loss. I’ve got one not too far away as well. Sucks!

I'm very, very sorry for your loss.
I just lost my Manx cat.

Sorry for your loss.
I’m awfully attached to my dog Mazie.
I would suggest that you think of the good life you provided for her.
End decisions are never ideal, they never seem satisfactory either but, they still have to be.

Another dog would be my personal solution.
Been there; done that.

I have lost around 10 dogs in my 78 years on Earth. It hurts a lot. But I have not owned a dog in the past 15 years. I now feed racoons and cats in the evenings, but do not own any pets.

Oh my friend, I am so sorry.
As a dog person, this post really made my heart sink.
I call it The Bad Day — and every dog owner (heck, every pet owner) knows this day all too well.
I’ve said good bye to my Rottie (who was The One), my dobie (who was Niles Crane in canine form), my walkerhound and countless cats. It is the day that all pet owners dread.

I currently have an American Dingo who is the canine version of Jerry Lee Lewis. He is insane and hilarious. And, I was literally given him by an angel (it’s a long story.)

I think the dogs we raise from pups are a little harder to let go of, and I dread the day I say goodbye to the Dingo.

I will pray for you and your family. And for your sweet pup who has passed over. You did the right thing, and he is no longer in pain. He’s running free and happy.

In time your heart will heal. I am so sorry, friend.

I am so sorry for you. This household has lost 5 cats and 3 dogs so far. To repeat what others have said: the best medicine is to get another, if you can.

Sorry Jim. I went thru this 4 weeks ago, Tuesday after Easter. My buddy Chase (Maltese) has been in our family since 2009. It really was gut wrenching. I’m afraid to get another dog because I can’t bear the thought of going through that again. I wish you well.

Murphy’s pain is now gone. You will meet him again on the other side. Good dogs are the best friends but they are in our lives for too short a time. Prayers for Murphy.

The only time your dog will break your heart is when his heart stops beating.

Bless you both.

So sorry, Jim.

I’ve had dogs and cats since I was eight years old. Of course they die before we do, and each one is cried over and remembered with love.

My latest loss, Andy Cat , died eight years ago. Everyone in the neighborhood loved him. I was still mourning two weeks later when friend and I went to a street fair in a great neighborhood looking for home grown veggies. First booth we came to had kittens in a crate. End of story, couldn’t resist feisty little female, alpha of the litter.

Daisy is still the alpha at our house.

May you find a new fur person to love.

Sending a virtual comfort hug.

It’s not easy to say goodbye to those lovely, loyal furry family members. You have my sincere condolences. I lost my sweet Siamese kitty last November and still miss him.

But I recently got two chatty orange tabby brothers and there’s lots of life in and some craziness my house now.

Sending up a prayer for your comfort and healing.

I’m sorry. It’s hard to lose a beloved pet. When our dogs have died, we always get another one right away. It helps with healing, IMHO.
