I live in Wyoming, and often hike in mountains where you would swear you are the only soul around for miles. One of those areas I’ve been in is the southern Wind River Range. Some years ago a couple guys walked up the backside of a mountain; the front is a 1000’ almost sheer drop. The started chucking rocks over the edge. One of them stepped forward far enough to look down - just in time to see a rock he dropped hit the helmet of a climber several hundred feet down, killing him instantly.

I live in Montana...about 20 years ago some dimwit scaled a significant peak then rolled a stone down the slope.
It cascaded into multiple rocks — all following gravity rules — eventually one rock struck the head of one of the worlds best climbers head.
One man is dead.
One is in Deer Lodge Prison.
