Exponential growth would be from 100 to, say, 10,000, not tripling to 300. I get what you're saying. It would be nice to see the term exponential only used if the exponent is 2 or greater.

Exponential growth requires a time component. Going from 100 to 300, sure, there is a exponent that does it, but if they added 50 youts/ten min, that's linear growth, not exponential. You'd have to have data on how many arrived when to say if it's actually exponential, linear, or other!
