A mangy thing lost a fight with ‘Big Mike’ in Pueblo.

“Coon.”
It’s sure bowed up like one but the face looked like a Badger to me.

I rescued an abandoned mutt that looked like that. Now she is all healthy and a full body of shiny black hair. Yep. That’s just a malnourished I’ll dog.

Agree-a Raccoon with mange or some other skin condition. I guess some people don’t look around outdoors much-they’ve forgotten what ordinary wildlife looks like. Chupacabra-not...

Grew up a hillbilly.
Seen it all , generally know what I’m looking at.
As an example, a weird WTH critter showed up on my gate cam.
I was briefly baffled and googled “ Fisher” because that’s what came to mind
Lo and behold, they’re apparently common here but reclusive.
Cool.
( maybe I should have clutched my pearls and panicked instead?)
😜

Only been completely stumped once.
Weird flying furry/skinny naked-tailed thing caught on camera
NOT a bird.
NOT a flying squirrel.
About 10’ above the ground and moving fast.
Roughly 2’ in length.
No idea but it looks for all the world as if some yeeted a possum across my field.
Maybe they’re evolving.
😁

Could be melanistic.
It happens in all critters

Vitiligo turns things white.
Melanism turns them dark and masks normal fur patterns
