Both Alex Karras and Paul Hornung were "SUSPENDED" for gambling on NFL games in 1963 while active players and both are in the NFL Hall of Fame.......

Yeah well, Hornung and Karras didn’t bet on football games in which they had a duty to perform. The punishment for that even in MLB is a year suspension and you’re still eligible for the HOF.
