I HATE that feature. My whole life I have always driven old beaters. And when a vehicle I’ve owned stalls it usually means I have to tow it, or just abandon it....

I had never heard of such a stupid thing until I moved to Germany and the company provided a car for me that had that stupid feature. I thought I broke down in the middle of busy Berlin traffic. I put on the blinkers got out and figured the brand new diesel passat was broken down. WTF kind of stupid feature is that? Even when I borrow a friend’s car that has that feature I still panic when it stalls at stops. And what happens when the battery dies??? You’re STUCK in the middle of an intersection rather then the relative safety of a parking lot.

Wife drives a Honda that has it. It took about 5 seconds to figure out how to hold the car still without stalling it.

My whole life I have always driven old beaters.

So have I. And part of driving beaters is that wear parts include things like ball joints, alternators, and starters.

The engine turn-off/on CAN'T be good for the starter.
