I’m 71. Nothing’s changed as far as I can see. Barber shops are just like they were when I was a kid, except they have flat screen TV’s now. And the clientele is the same too.
There may be chains trying to broaden it to men and women, but I tried a hair salon a bit and it was a waste of money.
I’m 72. When I was a kid, haircuts were 20¢ on the base, one style only - butch 1/4” everywhere.
These days I go to a 50s themed one-man barbershop. It’s not uncommon to wait a couple hours for your turn in the chair.
My barber, Leroy, learned to cut his own hair in a mirror when he couldn’t find anyone else who could do it to his satisfaction.
