“Not many barbers anymore honestly”
Tend to disagree with that my friend....they seem to be very popular in the black community.....also, at 65 I’ve been going to barbershops practically my whole life.
I do miss going. The old guy who cut my hair wore the standard high-collar barber tunic. I liked him, and we would talk about everything, sports, politics, events, you name it.
I never got the impression the younger guy liked talking, and he began doing more of the haircutting, and I didn’t enjoy going there.
It was about 45 min from my house, and I liked going because I could walk a mile up the street to go to the excellent Tex-Mex restaurant that had been my favorite. It was fun. I liked making a day of it.
RE: black barbershops.
I am probably the one person here who has seen Barbershop, Barbershop II: Back in Business, Barbershop III” the Next Cut. And the spinoff Beautyshop with Queen Latifa.
Good scene in Beautyshop. The women were discussing how they hate having bikini wax done. One said “I always leave a place to help my man find his way to my doorway to Heaven.” Other stylist: “In your case that’s a revolving door.”
RECENTLY—BLACKS DO NOT HAVE HAIR DOS’
THEY HAVE REVERTED TO “HAIR DONT’s”
Yes in the black community
