They can impose negative interest rates, which would force you to spend your money or lose it. The government can use it as. A throttle on a troubled economy, if I understand it correctly.

Of course, there are people who say the government would never do this.

Well, they do this now with inflation. A digital currency just lets them do it faster whenever they decide they need to.

The people want a stable storehouse of value, and governments refuse because they cannot control people who have one.
