“”Can we have this guy as Pope?””

He’s not...

It reminds me that I’ve never heard of any family members of any pope in our lifetime...embarrassing siblings etc.

Pope Leo is the first one to have siblings who might post online without any awareness that at some point in the future people may pay close attention to them.

JPII’s only brother died before the war. Pope Benedict’s brother was a Monsignor, and his sister managed his household until he died in 1991.

Three of Pope Francis’ four siblings had died before he was elected Pope-—and they probably didn’t post much on line.

Since all popes before this one, were all from other countries, we in the US would never hear about their extended families.

Now that you mention it, I don’t even know if John Paul II, Benedict, or any of them, had siblings. I assume some did, but we never heard about them.

And social media hasn’t been around all that long, if you think about it. If John Paul II had a sibling, he/she didn’t have a Twitter/X account.
