3K for my 1st PC - 286 processor. Had to pay another couple of hundred for the 287 co-processor.

It is amazing how little you can get a very capable PC for. I go back to the days when, for a couple decades, the machine you really wanted was about $3k. Yes, I have thrown out PCs that cost many hundreds of dollars years ago. But prices will go up significantly if tariffs stay as they are. US much traded its industrial base.
