We walked by a street corner May Day “demonstration” in Missoula, Montana last week. A young woman was on a soapbox on a street corner with her megaphone holding a sheath of 20 pages that she was determined to read all the way through. I was curious, so, for about a minute, I listened to her soporifically drone on and on (and on and on and on) about slavery, people of color, the patriarchy, revolution, workers-of-the-world, class struggle, solidarity, blah blah blah. It was all right out of Marx. She had a rapt audience of four or five like-minded commie-bots nodding vigorously in agreement all wishing they had her rhetorical skills.
Not all was lost, however. A couple minutes later we wandered into the Tamarack Brewery and bought two four-packs of outstanding IPA to take home with us.
Glad to hear it all worked out well!
