I rode Amtrak coast to coast a couple of decades ago - from Reno, NV to
30th Street station in Philadelphia on the California Zephyr and Three Rivers trains
(took three days). It is an experience every American should have -
once, and only once. You meet many interesting and just plain weird
people on long-haul Amtrak trips, really.

I just got off Amtrak again yesterday, was on it for a whole week! I rode the California Zephyr! Beautiful train!

Loved the Colorado river. Then the Conductor gets on the PA and says “This is the Colorado River. We are sorry to inform you about some of the people rafting down the river as many of them have a hobby of mooning the California Zephyr please don’t be offended. Amtrak can’t do anything to stop them. We ask that you don’t moon them back.”
