How do you talk about engaging on substance and then misspell people’s names sarcastically? It isn’t a reasoned debate when it boils down to making fun of names.
As for Hegseth, I stand by my "good ideas, lousy manager/executive" stance. He brings over his own hand-picked key subordinates, and they all turn out to be lousy. Not having a stable of reliable, competent associates to form the core of his staff was one of the specific issues for which I criticized his nomination.
One of the more common defenses of Hegseth's lack of management experience I read was "well, he'll be at the top providing direction, and the expertise will lie with his key subordinates". As I pointed out them, it was HIS job to pick those subordinates, and he predictably failed miserably at it.
Having the right views AND experience managing a large organization wasn't too big an "ask" for a SecDef.
