Inevitably, there are still questions about why Kemp decided to forgo the Senate race and what, at age 61, he will do next.

"However, don't count him out politically. He has a big kitty of donations. And some supporters tout him as a potential 2028 presidential candidate or a 2028 vice presidential pick."

Here we go again. Good pickup opportunity and this guy chickens out. Same with Sununu in NH. Republicans have a real problem steeping up to the plate when it really matters unlike democrats. Still they continue to ask us for our money.

Who wouldn't want 55 senate seats? Trump is on his own I'm afraid.

Prediction: If Collins quits the VA and runs we win. If not we lose. It’s just not worth getting worked up over. Never take any politician seriously.

Kemp is delusional regarding president. Hopefully we can get someone better than him or Walker.

But Kemp is hated here on Free Republic. I’m sure many Freepers are happy with this news

You may be right but I’m thinking butts in the seats. Opportunity missed.

Mitch was right about ‘candidate quality’.

Kemp is a pantywaist who appointed Loser Loeffler on orders from McConnell.

So we DO NOT need him in the Senate.

See Thom Tillis today? That’s Brian Kemp in the future if he were a senator.

Well, he didn't ask for any money because he didn't run.

Trump hasn't exactly been Kemp's biggest fan - to put it mildly. So maybe he feels than he as a Senator and Trump as President are a bad combination.

I am not sure PDJT was going to offer a full-throated endorsement. I wasn’t planning to support him anyway. He seems closer to Thom Tillis than Trump.

Kemp didn’t campaign much for Trump in 2024 either—he gave a formal endorsement and showed up for a hurricane damage tour, but otherwise kept his distance. He focused on supporting the GOP ticket generally without appearing at many Trump events, which says something about where he’s positioning himself.

By the way, the St. Simons crew is meeting in South Georgia today. They’ll sniff around and settle on someone, and then Erick Erickson will start boosting that candidate on his radio show like he’s Rush 2.0.

Kemp would be easier, but Osoff is insanely vulnerable.

He barely squeaked by in a presidential year where his party won the state.

Yes its tougher without Kemp, but hardly is this not a possible pickup without him.

I’d say GOP picking up GA is at least as good of odds as Tillis holding NC.

He isn’t running because all the GA MAGA Republicans hate his guts and wouldn’t vote for his traitorous, criminal azz. He has zero chance to become President.

Doug Collins should have gotten appointed to that senate seat that Kemp sold to Loeffler for $500,000. He would still be in that seat instead of a Democrat.

So both Sununu and Kemp forgo running for seats that were probably winnable given they both have high popularity in their respective states - Georgia more so as it is still more red than New Hampshire, but New Hampshire would have been open.

Oh well...

Of course Kemp declines. It’s what RINOS do. They can’t bear to help the party when their RINO guy isn’t sitting atop it.

Excellent! Kemp is a disgusting RINO who was in on the 2020 Steal. We need a MAGA Republican. I’m not worried about being able to get a good candidate. Ossoff does not represent Georgia and only got in because of MAGA voters’ disgusted with the Steal and the RINOs’ obvious complicity in Georgia sat out the Senate election in which 2 RINOs were running for re-election in retaliation.

We never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. As for Kemp selling the seat that’s what put Blagovich in jail.

We live in Schroedinger’s Chickening Out —

Where the BEST candidate is simultaneously the best, possible, obvious choice who would win easily but at the same time, a traitorous RINO scumbag who should never be in the Senate.

So, good job.

From afar, Brian Kemp has been one of the most effective, most successful, and best GOP governors of the last ~decade.

But his big sin? He’s not afraid to be independent when his principles call for it. He has a mind of his own and when circumstances dictate, he uses it. For that? Despite a lifetime of being prolife, pro-2A, pro-free-market, pro-liberty.... he’s cast out.

Enjoy the shrinking tent.

Kemp probably would have won by 10 points. Maybe whomever wins the nomination on the GOP side will still win, but a pretty damn safe and secure pickup got tossed away because he didn’t pass some stupid purity test.

I wish he had run anyway - the primary would have been bruising, but my memory says Georgia already had a primary to “punish” Kemp for apostasy. And he won by 50 points. Maybe it makes people here unhappy, but clearly - Georgia Republicans felt differently. Then he beat the fat grifter by 8 points.

But hey, keep on shrinking the tent.
