Why don’t you mean anything?
I like this one.
Silver Song, he recorded with Ant Phillips, even though Ant left Genesis before Phil joined

Heathhaze had classic quirky chords. Not sure if that was Banks or Rutherford.
Ugh. Everything he touched, he ruined.
Certainly not “Ripples” or “Mad Man Moon”.
Heathaze was Banks.
It only made it to #19 in 1981, but it has become more and more successful. Over the years, it became popular with different groups, including rappers and Mike Tyson.
"Mammoth drum fill"?!?? WTH is he talking about? Did I pick a youtube choice that was an abridged version or something?
to long to list. Tops, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, ect.
To me this is a much better testament to Phil’s greatness on drums.

Heh.
“Did I pick a youtube choice that was an abridged version or something?”
If it was abridged, consider yourself fortunate. :-)
Although the song being discussed here is a cure for insomnia, Collins could be a fine drummer.
I’m partial to his combination with Bill Bruford (I think) on the “Seconds Out” version of Cinema Show from 1976.

Great stuff. That’s what made me a Genesis fan, a friend had “Seconds Out” and played it, and it totally blew me away, especially Cinema Show.
“Seconds Out” is a phenomenal album. If there’s a bad track anywhere on there, I’ve never found it after 40+ years of listening.
And I must say, Phil’s versions of the Gabriel songs are better than Gabriel’s versions, especially “Supper’s Ready”.
Agreed about Phil vs. Peter and I liked the Gabriel version of Genesis just fine though it was a little before my time.
I’ve always loved Tony Banks’ work (especially on that album) and have spent years in a mostly futile attempt to emulate him on the keyboards. :-)
Do you ever watch Professor of Rock on Youtube? He does episodes about the mistake that made a hit often.
Recently he had a snippet of an interview with Norman Greenbaum. He doesn’t know what he did to get the fuzzy guitar sound on “Spirit in the Sky” and has never been able to replicate it since the recording studio.

Rick Beato is great, too.
