At some point after age 65, walking and bicycling won’t be possible.

But driving will still be possible?!

I suspect that the spatial awareness, visual acuity, good hearing, clarity of thought, familiarity with traffic law, quick reaction time, etc. all needed to safely drive peter out long before the ability to walk does!

A lot of those octogenarian drivers still out there on the roads, endangering the general public, would do well to limit themselves to walking, rollators, and tricycling - and/or Uber Eats.

Regards,

I met a guy at a retired men’s club meeting a month ago. He is 80 and just last December bought a Tesla for the self-driving feature. He says that 85% of his miles are in self driving mode. I had not previously thought about how that feature will keep older Americans mobile longer.
