That usage can be "justified" as trying to make an unrelated point.
However the total disregard of the existence of the past participle seems to be widespread, even among our side (notably Karoline Leavitt.)
They're teaching that bad grammar to kids in college. Karoline is young, so she's probably been taught it, too. I recently stumbled on this college grammar page.
