“might give license for her to not wear a ball gown.”

I never said “gown”, just “dress”. Also, I wasn’t referring to that one specific event. Since she became FLOTUS 47, she has dressed much less femininely overall. More pants; fewer dresses and skirts. Even her official portrait, although gorgeous with a badass aura (which I love), is masculine.

Anyhow, it doesn’t matter. It is what it is. People say that she’s always trying to make a statement with the outfit she wears. If that’s true, she knows exactly what she’s doing, and good for her.

Well that's the answer then.   Because the fashion mavens snubbed her, she is getting back by not giving them any chance for them to snub her again.   I have to bow to your understanding because I truly haven't a clue about what women do.

That whole "new" dress pattern, is just THIS term.

Perhaps there's no real reason behind it, but perhaps she thinks that she's "sending a message": I'M THE BOSS, THE BADASS...whatever, which doesn't work either, IMHO.

Isn't THAT thinking the THIRD WAVE FEMINIST...WE DON'T NEED ANY MEN, THEY ALL STINK thing that everyone here seems to hate when a LEFTY pulls it?
