Breaking: David Horowitz has Died
The Liberty Daily ^ | 4/29/2025

Posted on 04/29/2025 3:50:25 PM PDT by Beave Meister

On behalf of the David Horowitz Freedom Center, we are very saddened to announce the passing of the Center’s founder, David Horowitz. After a lengthy battle with cancer, David passed yesterday at the age of 86.

The Freedom Center’s founder and guiding force was a relentless conservative warrior who survived a previous brush with death (chronicled in his book Mortality and Faith), confrontations with the Black Panthers, campus radicals, government investigations, death threats, and hate campaigns, some led by his former friends and allies, without ever considering giving up or letting up. Nothing short of the end that comes for us all could silence his voice. He continued writing, working, and steering the Center to the very last; his final article, “The Biggest Lie of All,” appeared earlier this month.

Although he was a giant in the conservative liberty movement for over 40 years, David was raised a Marxist and was one of the leading intellectuals of the New Left movement at Berkeley in the 1960’s. But David, along with his writing partner and Freedom Center co-founder Peter Collier, eventually had a political epiphany and joined the side of freedom in the early 1980‘s. They committed the second half of their lives and work warning Americans of the dangers of the Progressives whose intellectual roots and totalitarian aims they understood better than many Leftists themselves.

That’s pretty much across the board in online forums

There been a number of studies on people’s behavior and the relationship with the distance between the parties involved.

The greater the distance the greater the willingness of parties to be unnecessarily rude and unpleasant

Yep. I’ve been here a long time and have seen a lot of people leave because some choose to exaggerate and engage in bombastic personal attacks. I’ve probably done it myself but I try to self sensor and give posters the benefit of the doubt. I mean, we’re all FReepers, save for the occasional troll.

We usually lose posters, some who are smart, knowledgeable and prolific, during the primaries every 4 years.

Thanks for the reply.

You said "late '60s-early '70s", not any one year and now you say 1973.

I think that it all depends on WHEN and WHERE one was living at the time. There were no "rusting cars on the road" in NYC nor Chicago at that time. I don't recall, off hand, gas prices back then, but I DO remember the mess under Carter.

Also, depending on what kind of work one did,as always, things were good, okay, or not.

Food prices were pretty stable and I was living in NYC, which means that prices were higher than in some other places.

Thanks for your opinion re Mr. Nixon ( I too liked him a LOT and worked on both his successful presidential campaigns ), and at least we agree on the China thing,AND WE ARE CORRECT ABOUT!

You can be darn sure that if the Birch Society mentions him at all, it will be to condemn him as a “neocon.” To them that’s anyone who supports Israel.

Far too few of them, though and they ALL first RUINED this nation, by grooming so very many stupid BOOMER teens and early 20 somethings.

The damned RED DIAPER BABIES, in their hey day, managed to spread the seeds of destruction, of this nation; something that their parents and grandparents hadn't been able to accomplish in a much longer period of time. :-(

Not really following the exchange but you are forgetting the oil/gas crisis that lasted six months beginning in October ‘73. Shut down stations, odd-even days for gas and long distance travel iffy. I came back to KC from San Diego by car after Thanksgiving and drove from Flagstaff to Tucumcari without finding an open station.

I DID say that things depended upon WHERE one lived, at that time. I ONLY talk about what I know, that took place were I WAS living. And posted about the TWO different cities I lived in, in 1973.

OTOH...once Carter was president, there WERE gas lines in Chicago. From October 1 through December, that was NOT the case on the North Side, where I was living at that time.

I never said that the things the other poster mentioned were NOT the case in other places. Since I was obviously NOT where that poster was, I have NO knowledge of that and don't even know where that person was situated.

Also, the original post that I replied to, that poster claimed that this was "fact" from "the late '60s through the early 1970s! Then that changed and the next post was "1973".

A self-admitted “red diaper baby,” Horowitz was raised by communist parents in Queens. Zealous fans of Joseph Stalin, David’s parents immersed the future conservative revolutionary in the deepest darkest recesses of communist ideology.

A Red Diaper Doper Baby per Michael Savage! But he came to see the light.

Why is communism so popular within the Jewish community?!

Why is communism so popular within the Jewish community?!

Many trace it back to when Jews were routinely persecuted in Russia, and what is now Poland under the control of the Czars. The Jews hated the royal family with good reason. When the Bloshivics came along and overthrough the Royals the Jews immediately attached to them. Here in America back then, the Jews didn’t appreciate that the Commies were just as bad as the royals. They saw Stalin foighting the Nazis and figured he was a good guy not realizing he was every bit as bad as Hitler.

That’s the story, as I understand it.

Betty van Patter. As far as I know, no one was ever prosecuted for her murder. Why is communism so popular within the Jewish community?!

Horowitz went to the police with the information he had on the murder, and they basically told him to get lost. As I recall they told him that for years he had been busting their balls every time they went after one of these thugs and now he wanted them to drop everyting and grab a bunch of Panthers because one of his commie friends got killed. The said no way.

Yes...Nixon was in no way perfect, but he was quite useful as the prototype for how the Left would go after their enemies!

The lefties and FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR lefties/American COMMIES began to go after Mr. Nixon, when he beat Helen Gahagan Douglas for the California Senate seat and NEVER stopped.

Yes, it WAS the template, with some changes ( worse garbage such as LAWFARE ) that they are STILL using against Trump! And Ike did less than NOTHING AT ALL to aid or support his then VEEP.

Ike, with all of the nicey nicey propaganda aside was 1) Not a great president; not even all that "good" of a one 2)Was NOT particularly all that conservative ( okay, OPERATION WETBACK was great; I'll give him that ) 3) Was NOT even loyal to GOPers, though he ran as one.

I believe it started when Nixon helped put Alger Hiss behind bars. Here we are, in 2025, and there are still deranged Leftist moonbats out there who think Alger Hiss was innocent.

The Left never forgot or forgave that...
