No, get a knob of the fresh plant in the vegetable department.
I keep it in the veg drawer in my refrigerator. It can be grated or chopped as needed.
I have cancer and also keep candied ginger on hand to nibble when nauseous.
I get that at Trader Joe’s.

Pick up whole ginger root today, first time I’ve been in a store since knee surgery a few weeks ago.
I may have grated the ginger too fine due to liquid of the root staying on my grater (done over a blender).
Will use a more coarse grate tomorrow.
