Trash is as trash does. Everyone wants to express their individuality these days—- in exactly the same was everyone else wants to express their individuality
That used to be, “Oh, doing my own thing, man”.
I had that one figured out back in jr high in the late 60's.
All rebelling against the system and conformity by conforming to the group concept of rebellion. They couldn't even be creative in their non-conformity.
I remember in 8th grade, at the height of the mini-skirt/fish net stocking era, that the new style was a peasant look and had not come to the Buffalo area, except for one girl who one day wore it to school. There was about a riot in the halls from kids trying to get a look at her. You count not squeeze through the hall at all it was packed so tightly. I really admired her for her bravery in going against social convention and doing something outside the accepted social standards of the day.
