Is Cruz a natural-born citizen?
No. But let’s be clear, Sen Cruz is a credit to the party and the country. If he moves forward with another presidential run, it will be because SCOTUS has finally invalidated the present un-American interpretation of the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment.
Here’s the problem: Sen. Cruz and Sen. Graham are already publicly campaigning for a new definition of Art. II, §1, Cl. 5 natural born citizen requiring only one U.S. citizen parent. Addly enough, this new self-serving definition would be just what Sen. Cruz would need to run for the presidency in 2028 again. So allow me to set Sens. Cruz and Graham straight: an Art. II, §1, Cl. 5 natural born citizen requires being born solely within the political jurisdiction of the United States. To do this, one has to be born to two U.S. citizen-parents.
