Awful. Better to call Ukraine a sunk neocon cost and move on. This deal will only ensure America is in a permanent entanglement with that corrupt hostile nation forever. At this moment, we are trying to stop the corruption in Washington DC. An economic relationship with one of the most corrupt nations on earth is a horrible idea. It’s like trying to get your drunken uncle to dry out, and while you’re doing it, you pair him up with the town drunk.

This mineral deal is a red herring, a distraction. I wish Trump had never taken Zelensky’s bait on it. According to what I have read (and posted links to sources here on FR in the past), these rare earth mineral reserves are either unproven (may not even exist) in some cases, or are not commercially viable in other cases. Yeah, there’s that one scandium deposit that can and is being mined, but big whoop.

Both Russia and China are far more corrupt than Ukraine, and given what we've found out through DOGE, I'm not sure the US is less corrupt.

And Ukraine like most of the Eastern European states had a very high opinions of the US, at least Trump. In any case, calling it a "hostile" power is simply nonsense.
