Trier, birthplace of Karl Marx when it was part of the Kingdom of Prussia. I had no idea it was originally a Roman city.

I’ve been there, walked thru that gate, and saw the LONG LINE of stupid people going into Karl Marx’s house!! Cool town except for that!!

Trier was the site of one of the four Roman capitals established by Diocletian; also there's a modern myth that's gained some strength in recent years, that after the Varian disaster, Rome stuck with the Rhine as its boundary. That's complete BS.
