Some couples don’t have children for various reasons; so it’s not an issue for them.
Even if no children are involved, marriage or similar should still be involved.
If someone breaks into a house and walks around inside it, they have still committed a crime, even if they do not leave with anything.
I think that’s a very poor analogy. People living together without marriage is not a ‘crime’. It’s a choice people make for their own various reasons. I think sometimes those choices are legitimate, and no one else’s business.
